RVJG Season Windup Tournament - what a great way to end off the season!

There was a 3 way tie for 1st place with a score of 60. Winners were awarded cash prizes.

WOW, what a perfect day to be on the fairway!

Twenty one juniors participated in the annual RVJG Open Invitational Club Championship Tournament this past Thursday at Victoria Golf Course and boy were these juniors tournament ready.

Tournament results are as follows:

Competitive Division:

1st Place ($100) - Tanner Eriksen, score 72
2nd Place ($75) - Gurnoor Roopra, score 77
3rd Place ($50) - Ryan Michaels, score 78

Non Competitive Division:

1st Place ($30) - Nash Undershultz, score 99
2nd Place ($30) - Grayson Roberts. score 104
3rd Place ($30) - Kingston Basaraba, score 105

Proxy Prizes ($25 City of Edmonton Gift cards) went to:

Tanner Eriksen - Hole 9 Longest Putt
Phoenix Doshewnek - Hole 18 Longest Putt
Kingston Basaraba - Hole 7 Closest to the Pin
Kayne Bennetts - Hole 12 Closest to the Pin

Most honest scores went to Ramsey Bennetts and Phoenix Doshewnek. Each received a $10 Greenhouse Certificate

RVJG HOT Texas Scramble Highlights

Well... we didn't quite get the hot Texas heat, but the morning air was the perfect crisp and cool for the RVJG 2 Person HOT Texas Scramble Event.

The rain stayed away for most of the round and the juniors embraced the greens with a smile... even on the last hole when the rain came down in buckets.

1st place team prize was awarded to : Gurnoor Roopra and Connor Rintoul with a score of 71.

Longest Drive on Hole 5 - Gurnoor Roopra - 276 yards on a 395 yard hole

Longest Putt on Hole 18 - Preston Boettcher - 10 ft putt

Draw Prizes were selected by a random number generator: Prizes of either a Booster Juice GC or a Greenhouse Restaurant voucher went to: Bradley Cho, Timothy Chizewski, Daniel Chizewski, Ben Sparrow, Tanner Ericksen, Graham Anderson, Connor Rintoul, and Gurnoor Roopra

RVJG hosted the Drive Your Future Event at Victoria GC on July 11th.

With 21 participants tackling the course, there was lots of sun, fun, fairways and freezies.

Team 5: Konstantin Giannitsios, Tegan Forsythe and Isaac Lafferty took home 1st place prize with a score of seven under par. Way to go boys!

Thanks to all the juniors who came out to RVJG Schools Out Scramble on Wednesday June 25th.

What a perfect way to end the school year. Hope you had a great time:)

Sun, clouds, rain, thunder, and sun .. The weather started off sunny, then the clouds rolled in and the rain came, and then thunder struck.

With only 2 teams that started their game, the juniors were called off the course.

We pivoted our plans and had dinner first and waited for the rain to clear... 45 minutes later... the tournament was back on - sky cleared up again and the sun descended.

Best Team Name Contest, Guess the Tees in the Jar, Draw prizes, proxy prizes and 1st place team prizes were to be had.

The tournament results are as follows:

1st Place Team (also known as Gir 3 ) With a score of 56. Team members Connor Rintoul, Rith Patel, Malcolm Murphy and Gurnoor Roopra - $25 prize each

Proxy prizes winners: Closest to the Pin (hole 9) was Vincent Liu and Longest Putt (hole 18) was Zachery Schmidt - each received a Booster Juice gift card.

Guess the Tees in the Jar Contest: Closest guess without going over was Avan Nataraj, his guess was 267. Actual amount was 295. RVJG Ball cap prize.

Draw Prizes: Liam Roth and Rith Patel received a RVJG ball cap ( names were randomly selected)

Best Team Name contest: Names submitted were:

Bananas, Gir 3, Winner, winner, chicken, dinner, and Jiggalatune

2024 RVJG SEASON WIND UP RESULTS

A HUGE big thank you to everyone who came out to our Season Wind Up event on September 14th.

We had 14 teams (parent & juniors) who enjoyed a 2 person Texas Scramble event at Rundle Golf Course.

Two teams tied for 1st place with each team scoring 57 - Henry Russell(and dad) & Carter Veenstra (and uncle).

3rd Place team was Katherine Yee(and dad) who scored a close 58.

Closest to the pin (hole 9) went to Henry Russell

Longest putt (hole 18) went to Arran Green

Draw prize winner was Essien Kaida

What a perfect way and day to end our tournament season!

2024 Club Championship Results

RVJG held its annual Club Championship on August 23, 2024 at Victoria Golf Course.

It was a great day for the eleven juniors who participated; 6 of which participated in the competitive division and 5 in the non competitive division.

Competitive division results are as follows:

1st place: Harrison Wells, score 76, $100 prize

2nd place: Arran Green, score 77, $75 prize

3rd place: Ryan Micheals, score 81, $50 prize

Draw prizes went to Henry Russell and Adam Charkawi

2024 HOT Texas Scramble Event Highlights

What a perfect day for the HOT Texas Scramble... 12 juniors came out for the event at Riverside GC on August 8th.

Winner winner chicken dinner... Maddox Jabbour-Hage and Matheus Jabbour-Hage came in 1st place with a score of 72.

Matheus also got the longest putt on hole 18 and Maddox got the longest drive on hole 5.

Way to go boys!

Draw prizes went to Lucas Mullen and Serena Kim.

We had 10 juniors participate in The Drive Your Future Event at Victoria GC on July 12th.

The juniors participated in a 4 person scramble event. Tournament scores were as follows:

1st Place Team (also known as RVJ2) had a score of 60. Team members Eric Davidson, Connor Verhage and Toren Nott. Prize: $25 cheque each

Fourteen teams of juniors & adults weathered the smoky skies and golfed 18 holes at Rundles par 3 golf course.

2023 End of Season Windup Highlights

Thanks to all who came out to our last tournament of the season:

We had 13 teams consisting of juniors and adults compete in our End of Season Wind Up event last Saturday at Rundle GC.

Each team competed in the 2 person Texas Scramble and the following prizes were awarded:

1st place team: Tim & Mike Chizewski, score 58, prize $75 cheque to junior

2nd place team: Bradley & Richard Cho, score 59, prize $50 cheque to junior

3rd place team: Matt & Katherine Yee, score 60*, prize $25 cheque to junior

*Honorable mention goes to: Zach & Phil Peters who also scored 60 therefore the countback rule was used to determine the winning team.

The longest putt (hole #6) went to Zach Peters and the closest to the pin (hole #9) went to Casey Fedynak. Each of these juniors received a $10 Booster Juice gift card and a Goat track Social club merchandise pack.

Katherine Yee also received a Goat Track merchandise pack for the female with the lowest score. And Jahryd Wing whose guess of 210 won him a $10 Booster juice card for the most accurate guess in the # tees in jar contest, which by the way was 279.

Three draws prizes of RVJG merchandise packs were awarded to: Daniel McMullen, James Choo and Timothy Chizewski.

A great BIG thanks goes to Goat Track Social Club for their donated gift packs. And we can't forget all the parent volunteers who helped out with this event and all season long... THANK YOU!

Thanks to everyone who joined RVJG club this year... What a way to finish strong!

Great golfing was had at our RVJG Club Championship on August 17th @ Victoria GC.

Ten juniors participated in our club championship event and it did not disappoint. The weather was intense and so were our juniors...

Drum roll please... Our 2023 Champion Winner: Mahi Patel who scored 78 placed her as the 1st place winner of a $100 cheque and the RVJG Club Championship Trophy, Well done Mahi!!

Drayden Christensen was awarded the 2nd place prize of $75 cheque, score 85

And Matthew Li, whose 3rd place position awarded him a $50 cheque, score 85

Draw prize went to Lincoln Aimoe, $25 cheque.

Glad to see all those smiling faces. Great job everyone!

A great big THANKS goes to our parent volunteers: Mr. Patel, Ms. Woolnough and Mr. Fedynak for helping out with this event, as well as The Greenhouse staff for feeding our juniors.

Wow, what a beautiful day to golf... 12 juniors joined us for the Hot Texas Scramble event on Aug 11th.

This 2 person scramble event brought forth the following highlights: Timothy Chizewski & Daniel Chizewski came in first place with the lowest score of 79. Each were awarded a $25.00 cheque.

Honorable mentions - Three teams tied at a score of 86: Rith Patel & Mahi Patel; James Choo & Harrison Wells; Devin Braul & Alex Grant. Way to go teams!

Longest putt (hole 18) went to Mahi Patel and longest drive (hole 5) went to Timothy Chizewski who each were awarded a $10 Booster Juice gift card.

RVJG held it's 3rd tournament of the Season. There were 12 juniors who joined us for our Drive Your Future event at Riverside GC on July 14th.

Draw Prizes went to Dexter Vigneau & Ryder Holowatiuk who received a RVJG ball cap.

Prizes for the Longest putt (hole 18) went to Dexter Vigneau and Longest Drive (hole 6) went to Adam Charkawi - each rec'd a $10 Booster Juice Gift card.

The main prize allocation for this tournament was awarded to the team with the most pars. Two teams managed to par out on 7 holes. The tie breaking factor went to the team with the lowest score (80)

Congratulations to Daniel McMullen, Lincoln Aimoe, Rith Patel and Ryder Holowatiuk. Each received a $25.00 cheque.

2023 SCHOOLS OUT EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Yeh Schools Out! And what better way to end the school year but by getting some fresh air, playing a round of golf, having fun on the putting green and also meeting other RVJG juniors.

We had 10 juniors join us yesterday for the RVJG Schools Out Texas Scramble Event and 3 juniors for the Pitch & Putt games.

The following team had the lowest score of 56: Lincoln Aimoe, James Choo, Bradley Cho and Jaryd Wing. Each are awarded a $25 cheque.

This team also won the Best team name: Edmonton Gophers. Other team names were: Loafers and Hush Little One. Thank you to Rundle pro shop staff for making the winning selection!

Closest to the pin winner on hole #18 was Jayrd Wing. Longest Putt on Hole 9 winner was James Choo. Each junior is awarded a $10 Booster Juice gift cards.

Hats off to Lincoln Aimoe, Jaryd Wing, Sean Whelan and Seth Howells who won the draw prizes of a RVJG ball cap.

2023 Spring Thaw Welcome Event Results

Thank you to everyone who came out to our first events of the season!

On Saturday May 13 we had a Texas Scramble event as well as a Pitch & Putt Event at Rundle Parks par 3 course.

We had 12 teams participate in the Texas Scramble event. It has a perfect day for our juniors and their adult partners to get together and enjoy a great morning of golf.

We had 3 juniors participate in the Pitch & Putt event. And although the participant number was small, the event was a huge ton of fun!

Great big shout out to our small, but determined group of golfers who braved the heat for a MASSIVE day on August 25th @ Victoria GC.

Congrats to our 2022 Club Champion, Logan Baich who battled through a tie break 19th hole to 'just' beat Arran Green into 2nd place.

3rd place went to Taylor Ritchie and Levi Somerville won the draw prize

2022 Hot Texas Scramble Highlights!

On Aug 12th we held our ‘hot texas scramble‘ event and it was a success! With 10 of our Juniors turning up to play on what must have been one of the most beautiful days of the year so far - not too hot, not too cold, juuuuuuust right.

Although this was a non competitive event, our Juniors played their putts off for the best scores possible and posted the following scores:

The Beige Boys and The Blue Hue : -4

The Birds : -2

There was plenty of fun and definitely plenty sun to be had at our July 15th Drive Your Future event at Victoria Golf Course. There were 12 golfers playing in two divisions in this event. The division winners were: Competitive division: 1st place: Logan Baich received a $25 Golf Town Gift Card. Non competitive Division: 1st place: Jack Dawson & 2nd place: Jake Olson. Both of which received $10 Booster Juice Gift cards. Closest to the pin prize went to Logan Baich who received RVJG golf towel and the Longest putt winner for hole #9 went to Hudson Bossel who received a divot tool set. In addition there were random draw prize winners for the rest of the participants. Thank you to all those who attended!

2022 SCHOOLS OUT EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

We had 13 juniors join us for the Schools Out golf day on June 29, 2022. Weather forecasted 100% chance of rain, but the rain stayed away and the kids had a beautiful day to golf.

The juniors started off the day with games and exercises on the putting green then headed onto Rundles 3 par course for a 4 person Texas scramble event.

All juniors each received a welcome gift and the following team had the lowest score at 59: Harrison Wells, Connor Verhage & Hudson Bossel each received $25 Golf Town Gift cards.

Closest to the pin on holes 9 and 18 winners are: Harrison Wells & Casey Fedynak who received $10 Booster Juice gift cards each.

Various draw prizes went to: Preston Boettcher, Maxwell Jones, James Choo, Keisha Verhage, Matthew & Tyler Ozum

2022 Girls Day Golf Event

On June 11th 2022, RVJG celebrated GIRLS IN GOLF at Rundle Park Golf Course. Our aim was to create a fun, relaxed golf event with music, movement (and donuts!) whilst creating a space for the girls to build connections with other girls who golf or who would like to try golf.

Everyone had GREAT fun on the putting green playing putting games like ‘humpty dumpty’, ’leapfrog’ and others. It was so exciting to see all the girls on the green with big smiles on their faces. A big shout out goes to the girls who did all of this AND played a round of golf too! Phew!!

We’d like to extend a huge thanks to all the youth and adult volunteers who came along to support girls in golf today - we couldn’t have done this without you. See you next time!

SPRING THAW WELCOME EVENT RESULTS

On Saturday May 21st we had a first event of the season: The Spring Thaw Texas Scramble. It has a perfect day for our juniors and their parents to get together and enjoy a perfect morning of golf. Weather was beautiful and we had 28 golfers golf Rundle's par 3 course. The event results were as follows:

1st place went to the person with the most par's: Logan Baich received a $25 Golf Town Gift card

2nd place went to the person with the most 6's: Hunter Nault received a $25 Golf Town Gift card

Closest to pin (#9 hole): RVJG Ball cap went to Taylor Ritchie

Longest putt (#18 hole) : RVJG Ball cap went to Thomas Smid

Draw prizes went to Luke Hargrave, Eoghan MacMahon, and Harrison Wells. The draw prize bag included: golf towel, bag tag and tees - all with RVJG logo.

RVJGC held its final event of the year, the Parent/Child Scramble, at Rundle Park Golf course on Sept 11. We had 50 golfers play this year. We had a three way tie for second place- positions were determined using the countback method. The following are the event prize winners of Golf Town gift cards:

We had 30 juniors attend our Riverside event on August 13. It was a beautiful day for golf ( although a little ‘warm’ ). They were entered into two divisions. The competitive division played an 18 - hole individual stroke play event. The non-competitive group played a 3 ( or 4 person ) 18 - hole Texas Scramble format event. The winners were as follows:

We had a great day for our Drive Your Future event at Victoria on July 16. There were 31 golfers playing in three divisions in this event. The division winners were:

SPRING THAW EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

We had our first RVJG event of the year last Wednesday -the Spring Thaw event. Due to covid it was postponed about a month from its usual date. The delay and unprecedented hot weather left no doubt that winter was indeed over! We had an incredible turnout for this event particularly considering the temperature reached 36 C that day. I want to congratulate all 43 of the 48 kids that signed up who played. Due to the extreme heat, we turned the event into a 9-hole game but the kids who wanted to play 18 holes could do so on their own. 11 of the 43 kids braved the heat and played the full 18 holes! There were two teams tied with a score of 24 ( 3 under par ) in this Texas scramble format event. The winner was determined using the countback method.

The prize winners in the event were:

1st place (24) $25 each: Raul II Rojas , Jack Dawson, Casy Fedynak, Connor Verhage
2^nd place (24) $20 each: Logan Baich, Joshua Richlark, Zack Grant

River Valley Junior Golf (RVJG) is looking to recruit a team of motivated golf enthusiasts for the 2021 season to help deliver its programs.

ABOUT RIVER VALLEY JUNIOR GOLF : River Valley Junior Golf (RVJG) was established in 2002 as a non-profit organization to promote the game of golf amongst juniors in Edmonton and the surrounding area. Our mission continues to be to educate, motivate and inspire. RVJG proudly considers itself to be one of the friendliest, most accessible junior golf clubs in Edmonton. Golf Ambassadors are a key part of the RVJG team, working closely with the Program Administrator to deliver regular ‘Ambassador Golf Days’ and other events and interacting with our juniors and/or parents in a positive and professional manner both on and off the golf course.

DUTIES: On Ambassador Golf Days you will liaise with the on-site Event Volunteer to ensure that play can start on time, meet and greet the Juniors in a warm and friendly manner, act as a knowledgeable role model by accompanying them on course, offer basic instruction and appropriate guidance on etiquette and rules as required. As a Golf Ambassador, you will offer our members basic golf skills coaching in areas such as such as putting/ chipping/ pitching & club holds in scheduled Golf Skills Clinics. Ambassadors may also be asked to assist at other RVJG events throughout the golf season, as well as to help improve RVJG’s program by listening to players suggestions and ideas and by communicating regularly with the RVJG Program Administrator.

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent Must be 18 years or older. Must hold a valid driver’s license (to operate a golf cart). Be comfortable to lead junior golfers at all skill levels. Understand the Rules of Golf according to Golf Canada Players Edition Book. Be available to work Sundays after 2pm from June – Aug & casual weekday evenings after 6pm. Be available to work at Victoria, Riverside and Rundle Golf Courses according to schedule.

JOB TYPE: This job is summer seasonal at $20/hr. All successful applicants will be asked to complete a background security check.

Our event on August 7 didn’t provide us with the best weather of the year. It was a cold windy day with a steady rain for most of the day. We would like to give our appreciation to the 19 hardy kids who braved the weather and played in this event. We had 5 juniors who managed to survive the elements and finished 18 holes. Kudos to all!
